Identifying the landmarks in last week’s “Where in the World…” was easy enough. The Pyramids and the Sphinx are, as most people recognised, in Egypt. Three locations were suggested – Giza, Cairo and Gaza. One of these, Gaza, is way off the mark so unfortunately I cannot accept that as the answer. The pyramids are in Giza (only one letter different from Gaza) which is a city in it’s own right. However, Giza is part of the Cairo Conurbation which is also classed as a city. So identifying the city as Giza or Cairo is correct.
Rather surprisingly only three people identified the city correctly. Crowmads (@crowleyfreedom), Richard (@RField75) and Atul (@pixodentist) identified the city as either Cairo or Giza. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who took part.
This weeks distorted photograph is below. This iconic view is the one seen on many postcards and guidebooks though not in its twisted form.
Can you identify the city in this week’s Where in the World…? You can leave your answer in the comments below or on my Twitter feed (@lethers) with the hashtag #WITW60. If we mutually follow each other on Twitter then you could send me a direct message with your answer, not forgetting the hashtag #WITW60. You can also leave your answer under the post referring to this on the Travel Unpacked Facebook page (please like the page while you are there). Good luck.
