Answer to edition 690
The style of architecture and the tower, which is actually a steeple, suggest that it is a Flemish city. You would be right. The fact that there is a canal limits the choice still further. It is in fact the Belgian city of Bruges.
On the day this post appears I will have spent the day in Bruges as part of a 7 night cruise along the northern Europe coast from Hamburg to Le Havre. Watch out for future posts on each of the places visited and the cruise itself.

Last week's winners
As mentioned above I am on a Northern Europe cruise. As a result this post is pre-scheduled so there will not be a list of those who identified the city correctly. That will appear a week later along with this week’s winners.
This week's "Where in the World..."
This is a skyline that features a cathedral. Its style of architecture should be a clue as to the era it was built in and also what part of the world it is likely to be found. The architecture of the other buildings visible will likely help too. Good luck.
