Monica Galetti Returns to Samoa
Acclaimed chef and television personality Monica Galetti will return to her birthplace of Samoa from 26 January to 8 February 2025 as an Ambassador for the Samoa Tourism Authority (STA). Her visit aims to highlight Samoa’s rich culture, breathtaking landscapes, and warm hospitality, inspiring more visitors to experience the island nation.
Showcasing Samoa
As one of Samoa’s most distinguished figures, Galetti’s homecoming represents a unique opportunity to showcase the islands’ natural beauty and cultural richness to a global audience.
Born in Samoa and raised in New Zealand, Galetti’s career has been shaped by her Samoan heritage and passion for food. She gained international recognition as the first female sous chef at London’s two-Michelin-starred Le Gavroche and later opened her own restaurant, Mere, with her husband David in 2017. Though Mere closed in 2024, the couple plans to launch a new culinary venture later this year.
Beyond the kitchen, Galetti has become a household name through her roles as a judge on MasterChef: The Professionals and co-host of Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby. She is also the author of three celebrated cookbooks, cementing her status as a culinary pioneer.
Samoa Tourism Authority CEO Toleafoa Pativaine Petaia-Tevita expressed excitement for her visit, emphasising Galetti’s role in promoting Samoa’s allure. Her homecoming will feature events highlighting the islands’ landscapes, culture, and hospitality, inspiring travellers worldwide to explore Samoa through the eyes of one of its most celebrated daughters.
