Answer to edition 620
The Italian flag flying was an important clue as it suggests the city was an Italian one. The piazza is huge and is covered in what looks like crocheted blankets. At first I thought thet were flowers as in Grand Place, Brussels. The architecture suggests the city was once part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. All these clues mean the city is Trieste.
