Where in the World (416)

Where in the World is 8 years old

It’s hard to believe but this week’s distorted image marks 8 years of posting cities to be identified. It’s been a challenge finding suitable images to distort but it’s been fun. So many of you have enjoyed the weekly challenge which i must say makes the effort worthwhile. I do not plan on stopping anytime soon – I want to reach the ten-year milestone first.

To mark the occasion I am, as in the past, planning a competition. Any correct answer earns you one entry into a prize draw. This will be drawn after the competition closes at 10:00pm UK [BST] on Wednesday, September 9 2020

The prize - A Water-to-go bottle with filter

Water-to-go bottle prize for Where in the World 416

These Water-to-go bottles are great for keeping healthy, reducing plastic waste and saving money. You can fill with water from any source and the filter in it will filter out the bacteria and chemicals.

I review one in the 60 Second Reads. There are two on offer as prizes to the first two names drawn.

Answer to edition 415

Some readers identified Ponte Vecchio, others the cathedral. Both are iconic sights of this city famous for its connection with Italian art. The city is Florence (Firenze in Italian).

Last week's winners

Congratulations to those who identified the distorted city from Where in the World (415) as Florence, Italy: Todd (@toddunctious), Günter and Ursula (@myVideoMedia), Beverley (@bevsackville), Atul (@pixodentist), Mo (@SilverRainbow), Marion (@MarionMuir), No name given (@Westmonasterii), Tim (@timofnewbury) and Jackie (@jackiesjourneys). It’s quite a list this week.

This week's "Where in the World..."

The distorted image for this week is one of the city’s iconic skylines. Unfortunately half of it is covered in river mist. There are enough of the iconic features of the skyline to give a clue to the identity of the city.
