Answer to edition 697
The city from last week is known for its modern skyline. However, it does have some older districts and some much more classic architecture. The building featured , cheek by jowl with the skyscrapers, is in fact a railway station. It is the 9th busiest station in the world and has 10 platforms dedicated to the high-speed Shinkansen Express. The red brick construction is, among other things the Tokyo end of the Osaka-Tokyo highspeed rail link. Obviously the city is therefore Tokyo.

Congratulations to those who identified the distorted city from Where in the World (697) as the Tokyo: Jackie (@jackiesjourneys), and Atul (@pixodentist).
Well done everyone.
This week's "Where in the World..."
Despite appearances in this week’s distorted image this city is not an island although it does have an island close by. The architecture is a helpful clue as to which part of the world to start looking at. Good luck.
