12 years on...
624 editions of “Where in the World…” means that it is 12 years since the first one. Where has the time gone? It certainly does not seem like more than a decade. I know I have enjoyed it and from some of your comments I know that many of you have enjoyed it, even the challenging ones.
To mark the occasion there will be a small prize in the form of an Amazon voucher. The usual rules apply. Every correct answer will be put in a draw that will take place after the competition closes on Wednesday, 28th August at 10:00pm.
For a bit of fun I have included and extra distorted picture to identify. More on this later. Get this correct and you will get a bonus entry into the draw.
Answer to edition 623
The image from last week showed a traditional bridge and temple/shrine against a backdrop of modern skyscrapers. It would suggest the city is a modern city somewhere in the Far East (judging by the style of the traditional architecture). A little research reveals the city is an old Chinese city with a view to the future. The city is Guiyang.

Last week's winners
Congratulations to those who identified the distorted city from Where in the World (623) as Guiyang: Kanding (@KandingJirka), Bojan (@FunnyYummyWorld), Tim (@timofnewbury), Jackie (@jackiesjourneys), Rebecca (@rebhalp) and Atul (@pixodentist).
Well done everyone.
This week's "Where in the World..."

As an extra bonus here is another distorted image. The alien looking beast is actually a railway station in a large and important city. The challenge is to identify which city the station is in.
