Answer to edition 540
The world over it is common for locals to informally rename modern buildings. In London, we have “The Cheese Grater”, “The Walkie Talkie” and “The Gherkin”.
The skyscraper featured in last week’s “Where in the World…” is another example of this phenomenon. It has been informally christened as “The Bottle Opener” because of its resemblance to that instrument. Its official name is the Shanghai World Financial Centre and is found in the Chinese city from which it takes its full name.

Congratulations to those who identified the distorted city from Where in the World (536) as Victoria, British Columbia: Tim (@timofnewbury), Claudia (@crevilla_), Dee (@DeeCornes) Jackie (@jackiesjourneys), Rebecca (@rebhalp) and Atul (@pixodentist).
Well done everyone.
This week’s “Where in the World…”
This week features a city skyline with one or two distinctive buildings. The foreground (centre of the image) is probably the reason the city is not often photographed from this angle but the other side of the buildings. It is far more picturesque from that angle.
Good luck in identifying the city
