Answer to edition 475
The golden domed mosque is a big clue. Certainly it would suggest that the city has a sizeable Islamic population. It is highly probable that it is in the Middle East too.
One of my readers has been there so recognised it immediately. Others conducted a little research. All the answers I received got the country correct. The city is in Iran. You will find the Fatima Masumeh Shrine in the city of Qom.

Very few tourists visit Iran and even few visit the city of Qom. For those who would like to vist Iran vicariously I would recommend the book Revolutionary Ride by Lois Price (£)
This insightful book details a journey through Iran by the author, a single woman, on a motorcycle. An improbable but inspiring adventure that makes me want to visit Iran one day.
The book is also available in the Travel Unpacked Amazon shop (£). in the section “My Best Travel Books of 2021”

Congratulations to those who identified the distorted city from Where in the World (475) as Qom in Iran: Tim (@timofnewbury), Atul (@pixodentist), Jackie (@jackiesjourneys), Claudia (@crevilla_ ) and Beverley (@bevsackville).
This week's "Where in the World..."
This week the distorted image features a distinctive structure. It is not one of the usual images we are used to seeing of the city to be identified. However, it is appropriate to the city considering the part it plays in global geopolitics.
