Walk along the banks of the Rhine away from the more easily recognisable Old City or Aldstadt and you will come across these two so called “crane houses”. There are actually three of them but only two are pictured and they are built along where the old harbour used to be. It was a little tougher this week but the older buildings in the background would indicate a city in Northern Europe. The city is Cologne (Koln) in Germany.
Congratulations to Jackie (@JackiesJourneys), Atul (@pixodentist), Tim (@timofnewbury) and Beverly (@BevSackville) who all identified the city as Cologne.
The week the distorted picture is of a much photographed building. It is often seen in photographs included in guidebooks and on postcards because the building is included in most iconic images of the city.
