The identifying feature of last week’s distorted photograph were the spires. Oxford might be known for its dreamy spires but these are not Oxford spires. Seen from the river these less than dreamy spires are very definitely German and are in the city Bremen.
It was not such an easy city to identify; in fact it was a real toughie. Three countries seemed to be pinpointed as possibilities, Germany (with several cities being suggested as possibilities), the UK and Sweden (with Gothenburg being singled out). Only one winner this week and that was researcher extraordinaire and regular to these pages, Tim (@timofnewbury). Congratulations and thanks to all who took part. There are a good number of you as the visitor statistics to this page show an increasing number of visits.
Those who thought Bremen might be a British city will be glad that this week’s city is firmly in the UK. It will not be that easy to identify; which is why I have given a hint before your thoughts wander off to Germany or Sweden.
